The Killerbatch- tough act to follow

I was browsing a friend's blog ( a Sabahan) and come across a very refreshing story of a band of friends from Kedah. They are killerbatch of MRSM Kulim. Never mind the name ( I will come to that later), its what they are doing is really matter. I just hope that more Malaysian doing the same.

These guys are determined to built a hostel in Sekolah Tun Fuad Stephens in Kiulu, Sabah. Not a cheap venture its RM250k , thats a lot of money. They will call it Asrama Donni, which is in remembrance of Donni John Duin , an 11 yr old boy who took his own life to help ease the burden on his single mother. He also wanted to donate his heart to his mother who has been enduring a heart problem for so long. It really is a heart-wrenching and thats what prompted this bunch of friends to embark on this project.

When asked ( contacted through the website,www.killerbatch.org) the webmaster replied that, the hostel is significant and symbolic that everybody should remember, and prevent that ( Donni's suicide) from happening again. Its a daily routine for
the kids in Kiulu to walk for hours to school everyday. With this hostel, they can spend more time on study. I asked about the name
Killerbatch, the webmaster said, its because they are bunch of rules-breaking students during the school days, but now probably the killer of poverty,social injustices etc, he jokes, but I like to think that they are for real.

This selfless act by the killerbatch should be remembered by our society, the act that bridges East and West Malaysia and transcend beyond religion/beliefs . Its good to know that this kind of thing still exist even in the current economic and political uncertainty. True enough, they are killers.
