Why Sabah
Ivy said that the old man is an actual headhunter during his younger days. The hair at the end of the sword handle are actually real human hair from the head of his victim.
At the Unduk Ngadau Festival on Saturday 16 May, 2009, where we had front row VVIP table, we saw this dance before the beauty queen started their parade. Ivy from SCC was seated with us. She explained the significance of the dance. There was this old man leading the dance and holding a sword. At the opening ceremony, the old man accompanied Tan Sri Bernard Dompok at the gong sounding officiating. So, he must be someone very important.
Ivy said that the old man is an actual headhunter during his younger days. The hair at the end of the sword handle are actually real human hair from the head of his victim. In the line, we have two high priestess from the community and other leaders. The song that they sang is in an old language and only a handful understood the language. A truly rare breed.
So we Killerbatch looked in awe at the old man. Wow, if there is one spiritual leader to suit the Killerbatch name, than this dude is it! All of us wanted to take a group photo with him but he was seated with the VVIP Tan Sri Bernard Dompok so we did not have the chance to approach him.
Cikgu Teh quipped, maybe this is why we have this great pull to Sabah. It is the land of the headhunters and Killerbatch has found their home.
